Eric has been interested in photography for 50 years. His first camera, an old folding 6x9 Kodak, was given to him by his Dad, and that was his introduction to what has become a life-long hobby.
A few years later, he received an old Leica lllF which he cherished! His passion for photography then really started blossoming, and having few resources at the time, he managed to build an enlarger out of a discarded bellows camera and was making his own enlargements and prints at the age of 13!
Eric attended University in Germany and studied Visual Communications, Sound, Photography, later transferring to film, and graduating as a movie cameraman in 1964. He started working for the United Nations Film Department based in Beirut/Lebanon as their official short film/documentary cameraman. His career was interrupted at the start of hostilities in the Middle East, thus forcing him to move to Canada.
Eric joined several photo clubs in Vancouver, notably the Richmond Photo Club back in the 80's and was always on top during competitions.
With the advent of digital photography, he abandoned his film camera and joined the new trend. Over the years he has accumulated thousands of images, while vastly increasing his knowledge of this fascinating field. Like every photographer, Eric is always searching for that elusive, "perfect" image.
Being the type of person who needs a challenge, Eric's interests have lately changed drastically, and he decided to plunge into one of the most difficult facets of this business, namely, Bird Photography.
This Webpage deals specifically with his collection of Birds as well as Wildlife in general.
Landscapes are also on Eric's list of interests. Even though he now shoots only digital, he still has his old trusted Mamiya RB67 Pro S, perfect for landscape photography, as it delivers a large negative unparalleled for sharpness in enlargements.
Eric finds peace and tranquility in searching for that serene scene that captivates his imagination, and hopes that this Webpage will convey all the beauty he sees through his lens in his regular outings with his camera.
